経歴概要

中学校卒業後、奈良の花街に入り38年間にわたり芸妓として活動。明治時代から続く奈良元林院花街（全盛期には200名以上の芸妓が活躍した西日本最大の花街）において、現在唯一の現役芸妓として伝統文化の継承と発展に尽力。

長唄、三味線、日本舞踊、小唄、書道、茶道、華道、お囃子を修得し、平成2年に舞妓として御披露目、平成8年にえりかえして芸妓となる。現在はお茶屋「つるや」を経営しながら、花街文化の復興と継承活動を積極的に展開している。

Career Overview

After graduating from junior high school, she entered the Nara flower district (Hanamachi) and has been active as a geiko for 38 years. In the historic Nara Gengakuin Hanamachi, which has continued since the Meiji era and was once the largest flower district in western Japan with over 200 geiko active during its peak, she currently serves as the only active geiko, dedicating herself to the preservation and development of traditional culture.

She has mastered nagauta (long epic songs), shamisen, Japanese traditional dance, kouta (short songs), calligraphy, tea ceremony, flower arrangement, and hayashi (traditional musical accompaniment). She made her debut as a maiko in 1990 (Heisei 2), and underwent “erikae” (collar change ceremony) to become a geiko in 1996 (Heisei 8). Currently, while managing the ochaya (tea house) “Tsuruya,” she actively engages in activities for the revival and preservation of flower district culture.
